Detailed Course Overview:
We are pleased to be able to offer the SIA CCTV Operator Course in Manchester. The course is delivered as per the national teaching standards over the course of three days.
We teach the Highfield Level 2 Award for Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry, a nationally recognised qualification endorsed by the SIA and regulated by Ofqual. Successful completion of this course enables a Door Supervisor to meet one of the requirements to apply for their license.
Our SIA Course is aimed at anyone wanting to work as a CCTV operator in the UK. Under the Private Security Industry Act 2001, all CCTV operators must hold a license to practice issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA). The course covers all aspects of the security industry including, Customer Service, The SIA and Licensing, Health and Safety, The Law, Drugs, Reporting Procedures, Counter Terrorism Awareness. This exciting course will equip you with the skills needed to pursue a successful career in the Private Security Industry.
Breakdown of daily learnings:
Day 1 – Working in the Private Security Industry
Day one of your course forms an overview of what it means to work in the private security industry in the UK. Candidates learn about fire safety and emergency procedures and how best to enact them and health and safety as a security operative. You will also be taught communications best practices, and using radios. This is in addition to content covering the safeguarding of vulnerable people and counter-terrorism awareness, explicitly students will learn how private security can be a key barrier in the prevention of terrorism.
Day 2 – Working as a CCTV Operator in the Private Security Industry
Day two of the course covers more detail about the role of a CCTV Operator, including licencing and the legalities of the role. Students are taught how to manage the associated technology of the role, including the pan, zoom and tilt functions of the camera and switching between cameras. Candidate will also be aught how to manage data compliantly for the role and prepare evidence used by key stakeholders.
Day 3 – Assessment Day
The term ‘assessment day’ may sound daunting, but it is nothing to worry about, our trainers will make sure you are ready and confident before you sit any assessments. The assessments are for the previous two days, which include a mixture of multiple-choice exams, filmed assessments on the use of CCTV equipment, communication devices and a written assessment in which you will be writing an incident report.
